A Message from the Lt. Governor Education & Training It was early morning and anticipation was starting to build. This was the day that 32 dedicated Toastmasters would Mind The Education GAP and use their most effective techniques to train a new crop of club officers. They were prepared to share, educate, brainstorm and motivate all 189 of them. The time was 7:00 am and TLI Dean Arnie Grot was busy hanging signs, setting up the registration tables, coordinating the breakfast and training a new Lt. Governor of Education. The planning for this event began back in March with specific goals to provide the best possible training for every officer that attended. The list of instructors that volunteered to serve you the member is as follows: TLI 2005 Faculty and Support Staff |
|
Course No - Course Name A - Effective Toastmasters Meetings |
Instructor Norm Thibodeau, ATMS |
| Bookstore Volunteers (Sales Associates) | Marsha Kiley, Calvin Jackson, Len Kane, William Judd, and Rich Couture |
| Registration Desk Volunteers | Nathan Jaycox, Ute Brinkmann, Calvin Jackson, and Carol Mon |
| Room Signs | Bette McIntire |
One might ask why the attendance seems to grow every year? Well it is the best training event of the year and our members are eager to spread that news. They want to provide the highest quality programs to their members so they choose to attend the best that the District has to offer. Some of the comments this year from attendees, "energetic, motivational, accessible" or "I want to be like my instructor when I grow up". If that's not enough the statistical feedback for the educational value rated this year's TLI on a scale of one to ten an average of 8.9 with ten being the best score possible. This is what you the members say it's just awesome! And you are spreading the word thus Minding The Educational Gap. I would like to personally thank each and every one of them and the 189 club officers that gave up a sunny Saturday so that they could make a difference for all of our members. As you progress through your year I encourage you to look back on this event and apply the knowledge that you took home that sunny day. Use the enthusiasm from TLI during these summer months to provide a quality program that every member will want to be a part of. If you missed the TLI training you will have additional opportunities to attend make up sessions and be part of a successful team. | If you thought coming to TLI or to a conference would be the lazy person's way of getting smart, think again. -- TLI Dean Arnie Grot, DTM | |
