Division C Training Events Energize Officers

The second half of the Toastmasters year is getting off to a great start! Two mid-year officer training events were held in Division C during the month of January, with a third planned in February!

On Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, thirty Toastmasters gathered at the East Lyme Senior Center for a Area C6 Toastmasters Leadership Exchange (TLE) Event organized by Leslie Hammond, Area C6 Governor. The District 53 bookstore was presented by Bette McIntire, ACB, ALB, Div. B. Gov., Exciting educational presentations were given by:

• Jerry Aiyathurai, ACS, President Talcott View Club – The Art of Evaluations

• Nathan Jaycox, ACG, CL, District 53 Demo Mtg Chair – The Rewards of Leadership

• Arnie Grot, DTM, PDG – Officer Recruitment Techniques

In addition, break-out sessions were held for each of the seven club offices.  Session presenters included:  Paul Young, DTM, PDG, Ray Johnson, DTM, PDG, Richard Frantz Jr., ACG, District Secretary, Cheryl Mason, DTM, Div. C Gov., Ruth Zafian, DTM, President, Central CT Advanced Club and Leslie Hammond, Area C6 Governor.

Officers from fourteen different clubs attended this shoreline educational event. In addition to the outstanding line-up of presenters, networking opportunities, delicious refreshments, and raffle prizes all helped to make this event a great success!

On Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, thirty Toastmasters gathered at the Cromwell Town Hall for a Division C TLE Event. The featured educational presenters at this event were:

• Ute Brinkmann, DTM, President, Eagle Toastmasters –
  Leadership Starts With Your Heart

The Leadership Exchange Case Study was facilitated by Sharon Roth, ACB, Area C1 Governor. Dave Daley, ACG, ALB, Area C2 Governor served as Sergeant at Arms for the event. ith topics of leadership, goal setting, and plenty of interaction between officers, the evening's event was educational and stimulating.

Here’s what some attendees had to say about the training . . . “renewed my desire to work harder,” “goal setting was excellent,” “learned retention ideas and suggestions,” “learned that as a leader, you need to grow other leaders.” Officers from eleven different clubs attended this training session.

A targeted club officer training session was held on 1/8/2011 for Charter Oak Toastmasters, conducted by Dave Daley, AG C2, with a total of 5 officers being trained. The training focused on club success planning, DCP goals, and membership building.

The third Division C TLE training session will be held Monday, February 21, 4 – 6 p.m., at Pfizer in Groton sponsored by Area C3 Governor, Armelde Pitre, ACS, ALB.
