I have chosen "A Passion to Grow " for this
year's district theme. When each of us joined Toastmasters we
had specific goals that we wanted to reach. For many of us, once
we reached these goals we realized that we wanted more of what
Toastmasters has to offer. That is when the passion began to
set in and we began to reach for higher levels of achievement;
to expand ourselves even more, not only as speakers but as leaders.
For new club officers, you are the leaders. It is up to you
to keep your clubs strong. Your club meetings should be exciting
and dynamic. Every meeting should be a showcase meeting with each of your members giving it their all. Productive,
quality meetings is what brings out the best in each of use. Showcase meetings are what keeps your members coming back
and your guests becoming members at your next meeting. To be
a strong club you should also have at least twenty members, not
only for the honor of being able to achieve the Distinguished
Club award but to allow your members to get the most out of each
meeting.
This year I have set a goal of ten new members for each of
our clubs in the district. That is 1000 new members coming into
our district by the end of the Toastmaster year. This
can be accomplished very easily by conducting quality meetings,
by conducting those showcase meetings. Bring guests, friends,
family, show them what they are missing. Make them want to learn
and grow the Toastmasters way. Your guests will respond positively
when they see your members working towards their goals by giving
manual speeches and receiving positive evaluations.
The district goals this year for CTMs is two per club or 200
for the district. For ATMs it is one per every other club or
50 for the district. We will also need two DTMs. Again, these
goals can be accomplished if we all work together and conduct
quality meetings.
Let's get on board and make this the best year our district
has had to date. Let's have all of our club officers trained
so they can do their jobs successfully. Let's have all of our
clubs achieve the honor of becoming Distinguished Clubs. Have
your club members participate in the upcoming speech contests
and let's all attend the Fall Conference in November. Meet your
fellow Toastmaster members, share your experiences.
As I have mentioned, there is a lot to accomplish this Toastmaster's
year. I have pledged that we will expand our district club base
from 100 clubs to 107 clubs. This means that all of us should
be looking for opportunities to build new clubs. If you are not
a club builder but know of a company or community that could
support a club let your area governor know or contact call me,
we will take it from there. Remember one thing though, if you
are working on your DTM you must either sponsor a new club or
be a mentor to anew club.

Passion to Grow?" |
