District Governor, John Lynch, DTM presented
the 2006 -2007 District 53 Theme at the
Spring Conference on May 13, 2006

LEAD WITH VISION

Thank you fellow Toastmasters, Distinguished guests, Past International Director Bradshaw, Past District Governors Don Logie, Arnie Grot, Ray Johnson,  Joe Zafian, Frank Kane, Rich Couture and District Governor Paul Young. It is such an awesome honor and privilege to be standing here in front of you today as your District Governor Elect. Before sharing my theme for our district I would like to thank my wife Annmarie for her love, support and understand through this journey.

When starting my tenure as part of the district team I had no idea what to expect. Wanting to meet the objectives of the Advanced Leader and continue to achieve personal goals it seemed only natural to want to become an Area Governor. Through some encouragement from my club mentor I decided to take that big step. The only thing in the way was our current District Governor. He was in line for the position and I had to wait a year. Well, my time finally arrived with a phone call from Val Albert asking me to be a part of her team. So armed with only the desire to make a difference my journey began. At our first executive meeting sitting down next to Paul Young and Rich Couture, Rich and I looked at each other and said at the same time …this could be the senior team in three years. Well it happened along with the ride of a lifetime!

Lead With Vision logo graphicWell, I am here today to tell you to dream and dream big! But I warn you to be prepared when your dream does come true. Right here and now is the culmination of a dream that my mentor Jane Phillion believed in before I did. And I believe in every one of you. Along the way many people stood beside me to mentor, teach and lead me through this journey. I would highly recommend it to each and every one of you. The one word of advice that I was given walking into the business meeting in May 2004 was to be prepared for the most exciting ride of a lifetime. “Fasten your seatbelt if you win!” “Three years is going to fly by.” That was the understatement of a lifetime. It seems like just yesterday when I started this journey and now our destiny lies in your hands. We have a great team assembled this year that is ready to help make your dreams a reality.

When we arrived in this world our parents wanted to leave the world a better place for us. Now we have the responsibility and the job of leaving this world a better place for not only our children but also our society. They are the people that will be making decisions that will affect all of us as we grow old. So now that you know what is at stake, you can understand why this Organization is so important to our future. We have come a long way to building better communicators. The power of your Vision, the synergy of this district will allow you our members the ability to achieve each of your personal goals and leave a legacy that will be remembered for years to come.

One member at a time we will make dreams come true and together all achieve more. Just like every team before us we realize our collective goals through living the vision of a District Theme! Remember?

LEAD WITH VISION! In this “The Year of the Member”
Madam Chairwoman.
