Title: "Communication Is Not a Four Letter Word"
What is communication? What is the distinction between communication and talk? How do we listen? Or, do we listen? Discover your most comfortable representational system; learn strategies to establish rapport so you can "get on the same page," "be in synch" with people. Find out how to listen pro-actively, and how to communicate powerfully using "muscle words." While it is true you cannot control how someone speaks to you, what you can control is your own response to that person and thereby greatly influence the course and outcome of any conversation.

Bio:  Rosanne D'Ausilio, Ph.D., ATM-B/CL is an industrial psychologist, consultant, and customer service expert. She is President of Human Technologies Global and is known as "the practical champion of the human." She authors "Wake Up Your Call Center: Humanize Your Interaction Hub," 4th Ed, "Customer Service and the Human Experience," and "Lay Your Cards on the Table: 52 ways to Stack Your Personal Deck" - includes a 32-card deck of cards. Roseanne is currently serving District 53 as Area A-2 Governor.

What gift do you offer audiences? During this fun, interactive and educational session, you will learn how to un-wrap your unique speaking style gift and discover how to rewrap it to inspire, entertain and enthrall your audiences. Learn how to uncover (or rediscover) your best speaking style to reach your peak.

Bio: Susanne Kelly, a Toastmaster since 1999, has achieved ATM-B/CL designations. She is past president of Farmington Toastmasters, currently Vice President of Education and has held almost every other office. When she’s not enjoying Toastmasters, Susanne is a trainer for The Connecticut Department of Transportation, the University of Hartford and several community colleges.

Leaders are servants to those whom they lead. Effective leadership means having a vision. Vision, is about knowing who you are, where you are going and how you are going to get there. Individually, we need a significant purpose, clear values, the right attitude and positive thinking. Learn how to build a team, how to achieve your club’s objective and how to discover the importance of being a servant of those you lead.

Bio: Joyce Petteway is Commissioner of the Board of Education, City of Waterbury, CT and an executive assistant for the State of CT Treasury. She has achieved her ATM-B/CL and is president of both the Demosthenes Toastmasters in Hartford and the Sojourner Network of Democratic women. Joyce was also the past president of the Nat’l Congress of Black Women.

Title: "The End of Pointless Meetings"
What’s the biggest waste of time in the office? An unproductive meeting. Put an end to Pointless Meetings by planning effectively. Properly run meetings save time, increase productivity and solve problems. The objective of this workshop is to provide members with fundamental tools and skills of meeting planning and facilitation that will help them run productive meetings.

Bio: Angela Govila, CTM is part of the Information Management Leadership Program at GE Corporate and has effectively implemented her strategies to increase productivity in her own work environment. Angela is a member of the International Association of Facilitators and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Sciences & Technology from Penn State University.

Title: "Visual Aids For a More Effective Presentation"
This lively PowerPoint show will discuss how visual aids can increase the understanding of a presentation, help convey a message in the dimension best suited to establish a clear understanding and keep an audience focused on your message by adding variety and interest. Learn how to choose the best visual aid for a presentation and review tips for using visuals effectively. The presenter will demonstrate how visual aids can also help control nervousness by giving the speaker purposeful, physical activity without distracting the audience.

Bio: Lawrence Levy, ATM has been an active member of the Energy Toastmaster Club at Northeast Utilities for 26 years. He has held various club officer positions including President and Educational VP and was Area Governor of Area 6, Division B in 1985. He was twice voted Club Toastmaster of the Year and recently received the Energy Club Distinguished Service Award. Larry has participated in the Speakers Bureau at Northeast Utilities and has given numerous presentations at technical conferences.

Title: "Find and Utilize Your Own Wellsprings of Creativity"
Multiple sources of creativity will be explored. Participants will learn exercises to inspire creativity (guided meditation, improvisation, drawing, writing, etc.). Participants will learn how to call upon their own creativity when preparing speeches, participating in Table Topics and in day-to-day interactions.

Bio: Susan Schefflein, ATM-S, has been a member of Toastmasters since 1997 and is currently President of Putnam Speaks Toastmasters in Carmel, NY. Susan is VP for Funding Initiatives at United Way of Westchester and Putnam where she has utilized creative skills in training and working with community volunteers. She received her M.A. in English from the University of Cincinnati. A member of the Hudson Valley Writers Center, Susan has published poetry in several journals across the country. She has served on many community boards in various leadership roles and received the Putnam Community Service Network Distinguished Service Award in 1997.
