D53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit News Bites
- The 2007 District 53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit had the best International Speech Contest that I've ever been to. I'm glad that I wasn't a judge because I don't know if I would have been able to pick a winner. In my opinion, any of the contestants could have won. It was that close.

- The 2007 District 53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit was a wonderful gift to myself. Sometimes you just have to take the time to commit to developing yourself: the time to soak up enlightening ideas; to see how other Toastmasters are leveraging their experience in the organization to better their own lives, relationships and careers; the time to get away from day to day routine and interact with adults. I did that last Saturday and had a marvelous time. Already I'm able to apply some of the learnings - that makes the day all the more worthwhile!"

- The 2007 District 53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit was the best of the conferences I have attended. The location was convenient, the facilities were super, the registration process smooth, the store operation well manned, and District Team members were accessible. Educational Sessions provided "meat" for all, and were keyed to the present. The sound system and screen size in the Blue Room were marginal - but our capable District Team presenters handled the crowd well. Refreshments and main meals were very good, and the servers at dinner very pleasant and quick to respond to requests.

- The 2007 District 53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit was outstanding. The workshops were varied and offered wonderful information about developing as a person, a speaker and a business. The quality of the contests was spectacular and inspiring. How could anybody not attend? These are events worth looking forward to.

- The 2007 District 53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit had great contests, good evening meal, and rooms. On the other hand ... the chinese lunch buffet food was not suitable for a diabetic - yuk.) The Toastmasters store was easy to find and I bought a few things. The meterologist (Bruce Deprest) was a great noontime speaker. I really enjoyed his story and his ability to speak to a group was excellent.

- The 2007 District 53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit was was the best one I've attended with the exception of the "Verbosity" from many dignitaries. Life always presents us with lessons, which when studied, often broaden our view of humanity. My recent poor finish in the Tall Tales Contest created just such a lesson for me. I realized that since the contest was held early in the day, few judges had anything to drink at that early hour. Because my subject manner dealt with a 303 lb truck driver who took up ballet dancing with his 285 lb wife, there was little or anything funny about it to most of the judges. I learned that in the future I need to avoid topics that mention obesity, even though we hear about it daily from the media.

- The 2007 District 53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit was one of the best , if not THE best, Toastmasters conferences that I have been to in a long time ... only to be exceeded by the upcoming Fall conference on Nov.3rd in Fishkill, NY (hosted by Div.A)! (I could not resist the temptation to put in a plug for the next conference!)"
-- Dave Wheeler, Div A Governor, West-Conn Toastmasters Club #599, Danbury, CT
- I went to the Spring Conference and Leadership Summit hoping to walk away with a conscious focus on a new skill or two, but instead, my presenter's toolbox was chock full of techniques I learned that will push my abilities to an all new level. Thank you District 53!

- The highlight of the day for me was the International Speech Contest. They seem to get better and better each year.

- The 2007 District 53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit was an incredible opportunity to get some leadership experience. Volunteering at a conference, at any level, gives you a completely different and superior experience over just being an attendee. I recommend it highly.

- I enjoyed the 2007 District 53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit last Saturday. Lunch was great and different. I'm sure some will grumble about changing the menu from former conferences. But as a conference chair who planned the spring event two years ago, I know we need to try new things. Ours was the first one not at a hotel (ski lodge).

- The 2007 District 53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit will provide fond memories for many years to come. Bruce De Prest--what an outstanding recipient of the C & L award! I was fortunate to sit next to him during the Tall Tales contest. You never know who may be in the seat next to you, and he stayed on after lunch, just to learn from us. Bill Corbett-if you missed his presentation on speaking professionally, whether you do this or not, you missed a once in a lifetime event. His tips and his generous sharing of what works in presenting yourself was priceless, and can be used in all areas of personal development.

- The 2007 District 53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit was "Simply Awesome." The conference was well organized, great synergy and the food was great. I am honored to be a part of this organization and this district.

- The 2007 District 53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit was the most exciting, educational and inspiriational event of my first year as a Toastmaster. The contestants' speeches were absolutely stunning, the educational sessions I attended were of immense value and the Conference as a whole ran perfectly. I am still running on the fuel received at the District 53 Spring Conference.

- The 2007 District 53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit was truly a high point in District 53 events this year. The speech contestants provided valued entertainment - not just laughs but points to ponder for life. The educational seminars were outstanding - worth more than double "the price of admission." Thank you - we all grew through participating on May 19, 2007.

- One common thing among all great leaders is that they know learning how to lead effectively never ends. Our Spring Conference and Leadership Summit provided another great Toastmasters venue for our continued pursuit of leadership excellence. Whether you were on the committee, a presenter, a room monitor, or a participant - if you were there, your leadership horizon was further expanded.
Better than 200 leaders in District 53 committed one Saturday out of their busy schedules to share and absorb leadership knowledge. Every one of us benefited and will share these benefits with our colleagues back in our individual clubs. And I know that each of us will try to convince our friends and colleagues to go to the next conference because, as Toastmasters, one of the things we love to do is share the wealth!

- The 2007 District 53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit was y eighth district conference and it was one of the best. I particularly appreciated the way the presenters of the sessions I attended gave so unstintingly of their experience and valuable knowledge. Jeffrey Scott and Maureen Moreau stood out particularly strongly.
-- Noni McDevitt, Southern Berkshire TM, Club #8792, Great Barrington, MA
- I loved watching both the Tall Tales and the International Speech contest. I enjoyed my time volunteering at the BookStore. Another way to meet the crowd and put my best foot forward in little ways. I'm grateful for the FREE HUGS video that one of the professional presenters showed at her session, that really invoked my emotions. It's still in my mind.
-- Bosco D'Souza, Energy Toastmasters Club #3176, Berlin, CT
- The 2007 District 53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit was inspirational. I enjoyed the educational sessions, the speakers were dynamic. The contests were entertaining as always. Bruce DePrest was a captivating speaker. Unfortunately, the business meeting was a bit long and the elections were a bit trying.

- The 2007 District 53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit was absolutely spectacular! I met so many great people; I felt it was very easy to talk to all in attendance, where it be another Toastmaster, a District Officer, or a presenter. I have a myriad of ideas to implement in my Toastmaster life, my personal life, and my work life. I can't believe I waited three years to attend a district conference.
-- Kristi Bathgate, Travelers Noontime Toastmasters Club #2532, Hartford, CT
- The 2007 District 53 Spring Conference and Leadership Summit was tremendous because my Area Governor sent me a link to Getting More Out of a Conference. By following those guidelines I got involved helping behind the scenes. In the words Brian Cavanaugh, I became and "I.S." that day. I was able to influence and serve a few Toastmasters, hopefully helping to make their conference experience a litle more enjoyable. What a rush.
